KIM’S MUSICAL TIMELINE

In less than 3 years’ time, God has taken Kim from beginning steps on a music faith journey to chart-topping BILLBOARD artist.

Kim has always had a deep love of music.

Growing up, before and after school, she would daily put on her favorite artists’ records. Singing and belting, she would give herself private concerts. Kim also wrote lyrics to melodies in her head, though she never shared them with anyone. She went on to study law, becoming a partner practicing litigation, but found herself doing entertainment law on the side . Never did she think she would one day become a charting artist herself.

May 2017

As a best-selling author, Kim knows how to write novels. But when God calls her to write a scripted web series, she’s on new territory. She has no idea what this faith journey will entail. Kim begins praying about the journey.

June 2018

Kim asks award-winning producer Lamontt Blackshire to produce the soundtrack for the series. He agrees, telling her she should consider writing the songs. This makes no sense, since he knows nothing of Kim’s love of music or that she’d written lyrics as a teen. She started praying for lyrics, knowing this was God’s hand.

July 2018

Kim’s producer hears the songs Kim has written, which she sung on a voicemail demo. He tells her she should sing the hooks (choruses) on a few songs. He has no idea Kim’s secret dream is to sing. Kim is blown away and really leans into prayer.

November 2018

First recording session for the ‘Cling the Series’ Season 1 Soundtrack. Kim is recorded singing for the first time.

February 2019

In a marketing meeting, a publicist suggests she sing full length songs so he can promote them on radio. Kim writes and records her first 3 singles, including the hit, “If I Didn’t Have You”.

April 2019

Kim’s first album “Cling The Series Season 1 Soundtrack” was released to much acclaim, receiving over 350,000 streams.

December 2019

Kim signs her first record deal with M Street Records, a label run by award-winning nationally-syndicated Gospel radio hosts, “Those Baxters”. “If I Didn’t Have You” is sent to radio.

February 2000

‘Cling the Series’ Season 1 Soundtrack receives 3 Indie Series Awards nominations—best soundtrack, and two nominations for best original song.

June 2000

The single “If I Didn’t Have You” is a Billboard Gospel summer hit, hitting such milestones as #2 Billboard Gospel Indicator, Over 30 weeks on Billboard Top 30, earning the coveted “Billboard Recurring” status, 4 Billboard “Most Added” certifications, and more.

November 2022

Kim releases her 3rd full length album—Cling The Series Season 3 Soundtrack. Kim’s single “If I Didn’t Have You” is still on the Billboard HOT 200 charts, earning BILLBOARD 100 WEEKS GOSPEL INDICATOR Recognition.
